BOTW: Everything You Still Need To Finish Before Zelda: TOTK Comes Out

This rumor is based heavily on the hieroglyphics in the Nintendo Direct trailer. The Zonai remain a mystery throughout Breath of the Wild , but one theory connects the tribe to the Twili from Zelda: Twilight Princess . By the time players explore Hyrule in BOTW , only ruins of the Zonai are left, but the writing matches that by the stone images in the Tears of the Kingdom trailer. This rumor connects to the first one listed in that, if any of the Zonai are alive, they may have relocated to the floating islands in order to survive a possible calamity, assuming some of said islands don’t come from the ground like floating Hyrule Castle in the first reveal trailer. Since information on the Zonai is limited, players have to look to the symbolism found in their ruins and the TOTK to craft this ru

The biggest mystery, however, is the true identity of Breath of the Wild ‘s Zonai , an ancient tribe of magic wielders. Structures such as the three labyrinths and the Faron region’s stonework were created by the Zonai, easily identifiable by their Aztec-like designs prominently featuring dragon heads. Crucially, the Tears of the Kingdom logo also features these dragon designs, fueling speculation that more Zonai history will be explored in the game. Perhaps an underground Zonai ruin will form a dungeon, or a sprawling network of tunnels. A fantastic location for a Zonai-inspired dungeon would be beneath Lake Hylia, given its proximity to the Zonai ruins of the Faron reg

Another possibility is that Tears of the Kingdom will bring BOTW ‘s story full circle with its time travel. 10,000 years ago, Ganon was defeated by an unnamed hero and princess, and while they were never identified in-game, it’s a safe assumption that they were iterations of Link and Zelda based on their descriptions and the pair’s intertwined destiny with Ganon. However, it’s possible that the Link from BOTW and the one from 10,000 years ago are one and the same if time travel is indeed prevalent in TOTK . It’s even possible that BOTW ‘s Zelda is the princess and that she and Link get sent back in time together, in which case Zelda could be a playable character in TO

BOTW ’s developers have stated that the game takes place at the end of the Zelda timeline. While this leaves its exact placement ambiguous, Link’s lost memories suggest that he and the other characters are familiar with the timeline’s legends of old. Zelda distinctly references the Heroes of Sky, Time, and Twilight, and she and her fellow Champions are well aware that Link is the very same Hero reincarnated in their era. As such, it seems that click the up coming post Triforce’s keepers in BOTW have some understanding of their place in the broader scale of this universe’s destiny, which places a lot of pressure on Zelda to succeed in unlocking her power before Ganon’s ret

While Princess Zelda finally managed to awaken her power and keep Hyrule safe until the Hero reawakened in BOTW , Tears of the Kingdom ’s trailers have thus far suggested that Zelda’s story is far from over. The latest trailer in particular shows two hieroglyphic images that appear to be Zelda, the second of which depicts her mirrored with a hidden figure. If Tears of the Kingdom truly is shifting its focus to Zelda’s story, then its title may indicate a reawakening of her power as the Goddess Hylia hers

The title «Tears of the Kingdom» could also reference the Zonai’s past and the events that led to their destruction. There’s a common theme regarding dragons with the Zonai, and the logo for Tears of the Kingdom is two dragons of the same style as the Zonai statues eating the other’s tail to create a symbol called an Ouroboros. Since the Ouroboros symbolizes the cycle of destruction and rebirth, it seems likely that TOTK will feature the Zonai’s history, what happened to them, and possibly their ret

One of the first new abilities that was revealed showed Link passing through the ground on one of Tears of the Kingdom ‘s floating islands . This was first shown in Nintendo ‘s teaser at E3 2021 (now found on YouTube), but has not appeared since. When Link uses it, he floats upwards while surrounded by some kind of green light, and briefly pauses halfway through the ground before popping out of the other side. Immediately before this, a scene showed a drop of water falling to the ground in reverse, though the significance of this is unknown. Strange music also plays for the duration of the clip, and extends into the following

The Zelda series’ heavy focus on time travel, time loops, and other chronometric mechanics have established plenty of canon ways for timeline traversal to occur within the plots of its games. It’s also not out of the question for Tears of the Kingdom to retrospectively focus on the Zelda timeline as Zelda’s journey could potentially allow her to recover memories of both her divinity and past lives. The latest trailer notably featured a heavy use of Ouroboros imagery as well, which could indicate that TOTK ’s story will focus on the past cycles of Hyrule — and the role that Hylia and her Chosen Hero have played throughout the kingdom’s hist
